Poor Chantal, twin of the heir Sebastien, was the second daughter, and as such, not much cared for.  All the attention was on her twin and she was often forgotten.

She’d often wake and have no-one to pick her up, all busy elsewhere in the house doing something.

The nanny was often the only person to (attempt to) tend to her needs and for this, at least, Chantal was happy.

However, often, after putting Chantal in the high chair to feed, the nanny would remove her before she had a chance to eat.  It was not a happy experience.

Or she’d be left in the high chair and forgotten.

Even her grandfather walked past her ignoring her cries for food.

Eventually, she’d be let out of the high chair and left to fend of herself, or the nanny would bring countless bottles of milk, leaving the food on the high chair.

Chantal would crawl outside to see if anyone was there to play with her or tell her a story, but only the gardener was there,

and the nanny would fetch her back inside.

Once it was raining and Chantal had fun splashing in the  puddles,

until her father found her on his way back from work.  At last a parent!

To her credit, the nanny (surprisingly) tried to potty train Chantal,

but it was always when Chantal was unhappy.

At once point Chantal discovered the fish tank.  She stood there, enchanted, for a long time.

The adults were always busy talking upstairs,

or interacting with Giselle and Sebastien.

Sebastien, of course, got all the attention.  He was taught to talk and walk…

and got cuddles.

When the nanny put him in the high chair, she walked off and let him eat.

Poor Chantal.  She did get a little attention from a grey-haired woman (her grandmother),

chantg

but the attention was short-lived.  Her birthday is not far away.  She’ll be able to demand attention better and do things for herself.
