Viran hadn’t quite got used to the idea of being a vampire.
With both grandparents and father vampires and a working mother, Veles didn’t always get the attention he needed.
Meanwhile his twin sister was clever enough to figure out how to get out of the cot.
Vlad seemed addicted to the telescope, perhaps in the hope of seeing those fabled aliens.
He was in luck.
He was gone for several hours, and apparently no-one noticed his absence. It was unfortunate that he was deposited back on earth during daylight hours.
He felt ill soon afterwards, which puzzled Miranda. How can vampires get ill if they’re dead?
There will soon be a half alien, half vampire child amongst them…
Things started happening, finally.
Having vampire grandparents, a sleeping father, and a mother at work didn’t help the twins.
However, despite being tired, Veles walked to the potty.
Viran finally woke up and could attend to the toddlers.
He put Veles to bed…
and let Verene out.
Meanwhile, attraction between Vlad and Vrancea grew.
Viran was oblivious.
Vlad saw an opportunity to make Vrancea a vampire.
Done.
Viran and Miranda had no idea,
but Verene heard something, like a flapping…
and suddenly Vrancea was there.
Now it was Viran’s turn…
But, Vrancea knew, not everyone could be a vampire, as the children needed attention. She called up the matchmaker who sold potions.
The matchmaker sold her one vial. Vrancea had thought there was a store of vampricillin somewhere in the house but she hadn’t found it. Never mind. Here goes, she thought.
I think she looks better.
Now she could look after the kids…
and was quite attracted to Viran’s new look.
Miranda was getting closer to becoming an elder. Vlad couldn’t bear the thought of seeing her get old. So he used his powers to hypnotise her…
before biting her,
so she transforms into a vampire.
Once the spell had broken, Miranda realised what Vlad had done.
She worked off her anger then confronted him,
for now she had to give up being mayor. Taylor McCullogh (married to one of the Arends clan) took over as mayor. Vlad tried to let her see the good side – that she’d live to see her grandchildren and perhaps great-grandchildren.
Viran, meanwhile, was about to head off for university.
Once he left, it was going to be a lonely life for Kiran – alone every day while his vampire parents slept.
Vlad was still trying to get his wife to become a vampire, so he could continue living with her indefinitely instead of her getting old and dying.
“We could spend so much time together” he argued.
“But then I would have to give up my job. I’ve only just become mayor and there is so much to do!”
“You don’t need a job! We are wealthy!”
He didn’t understand, that she actually enjoyed working, and meeting people. She was saddened. Each morning he disappeared into his secret light-protected room.
It was a lonely life for her during the day.
Kiran noticed that his father had no reflection in the mirror.
It looked weird when his parents finally made up, his mother kissing an invisible person, it seemed.
Kiran grew to a teenager.
Viran, meanwhile, was abducted by aliens.
Luckily he was only a teen, so no alien baby for him.
And oops, I’ve forgotten to take note of what’s happening with the DeMarrs – not much, from memory.
Miranda got promoted to mayor.
With her and Siobhan Mountebank as city planner, they plan on making a few changes. Already a town hall has been built and some houses made cheaper for graduates. There are plans to add a restaurant and park to Bluewater village and monitor the size of the cemeteries with plans to build another one soon.
On a more personal note, Miranda still prays that Vlad will want to cure himself of vampirism.
Little did she know that Vlad was watching. He pretended to be washing windows when she finished.
But no, Vlad wants to be around to watch grandchildren grow up.
Viran will soon be going to university, but there’s some time to go yet before grandchildren are on the scene.
I had neglected to mention that Miranda got pregnant again and gave birth to another boy, Kiran. He has since grown to school-age, but a few pics of the boys:
Above, Viran, then school age, and Kiran. Viran got quite accomplished at making muffins.
Miranda did cook, but often ended up eating alone.
In fact, she got quite lonely during the day when Vlad was in his coffin.
She often talked to Viran,
about all sorts of adult things he probably didn’t understand.
I think he did understand his mother’s loneliness, and tried to get to his father (in a secret room).
However, he seemed content to read books.
Kiran grew to school age, as I said,
but not long after that Viran grew to a teenager.
Vlad did have a couple of romantic nights with Miranda when he wasn’t working, before he had to retreat to his coffin.
It was Daeron’s wish that Vlad become a vampire. There hadn’t been one in the family for generations.
It took a while for Vlad to find a vampire to turn him. But eventually he did.
It was done. He was a mad scientist which fitted in nicely with his new nocturnal activity. He offered to turn his wife, Miranda, but she refused. She wasn’t keen on the idea at all.
Vlad’s uncle Radu’s end was near. He stopped being an evil witch just before his death.
He was 76. His wife, the much younger Merisha (who hasn’t reached elderhood yet), didn’t seem too upset at his passing. Perhaps she had a replacement in mind. However, she did miss him, now that Ivan was at university, so she got a kitten.
A tragic postscript here: Ivan completed his degree and returned home but when the Sim god returned, his face had disappeared, to be replaced with a flashing blue blob. Not good, so he had to go. He was eaten by the cow plant. Unfortunately, he had a fiancee back at uni, but she has since fallen in love with someone else and got engaged again. Here endeth the line of Radu.
Thor, the newly returned dog, got more attention to prevent him running away again.
Not sure what he thinks of Monica’s piano playing.
The family found some time to be together and talk, unusually.
Lazaria has turned out alright.
Vincent is pretty good at the guitar.
Even Monica spent some time with her daughter, Lucia.
Vincent headed off to university. More students. It must be time to head over to Academie la Tour and get some students graduated or dropping out. Vincent was so eager to go he didn’t even change.
Drako noticed that his father didn’t seem well.
He wasn’t. His time had come.
He was 80 years old. Actually he was much older, as he spent some time as a vampire.
Now that Luka was dead, Drako was eager to get out of the massive house which he’d always disliked. It had unhappy memories for him.
The house was demolished and they moved to a new house built overlooking the river.
Drako felt happier. He hoped that he and Monica would become closer as he still felt quite lonely.
I may have gone overboard with the pics so bear with me…
Vampire witch, Bryony, insisted on staying up during daylight hours so she was often hungry, tired and dirty.
However, she seemed to enjoy looking after the baby, Vincent. Perhaps she missed her son.
She was the one that was there for Vincent’s birthday.
And she still stayed up after dawn.
Bryony seemed jealous when Morannon taught Vincent a nursery rhyme so she cast a spell on her.
The spell made Morannonn sick.
Bryony could then pick up Vincent…
Evil witch.
Things didn’t seem to be going on too well between Bryony and Luka. Bryony refused Luka’s advances and pushed him away.
They argued.
With all the staying up beyond dark, I thought Bryony would quickly starve. But to my surprise, the pregnant Morannon was the one to quickly succumb just before she was about to eat.
Luka was too far away to plead with death and Drako was at work at the time. Bryony did nothing to save Morannon.
Drako was naturally distraught. He’d lost a wife and child.
Even the pup, now an adult, howled.
Luka took pity on his son, and headed for the phone to Death.
He hoped he’d paid enough to prevent Morannon being a zombie.
She wasn’t.
However, she wasn’t quite the person she was. She seemed not to remember her husband at all.
She treated Drako like a stranger.
Drako was upset but lost himself in music.
Bryony had, by this time, reached starvation.
Of course Morannon didn’t plead with Death. Why would she?
So Luka lost his vampire. The household is without one for the first time in decades. Will there ever be another?
Drako, meantime, will have to woo his wife all over again.
